Augmented Reality

What is Augmented Reality?

Augmented Reality (AR) is a new concept of visualizing the multimedia tools such as video, image, and more. Snapchat or Instagram filtres can be an example of it. AR gives us opportunity to bring the visual materials to our life and makes us feel that we are really like one step away from touching them. As for adapting the AR technology into the education field, it can be said that it is a crucial way of making the language lessons fun for our learners (I will add more information in the next paragraphs). Unlike VR, AR is more getable because we do not even have to buy a headset to use it. Having a mobile phone is enough for experincing it. Augmented reality is suited for applying it to other platforms like science, design or architecture. Now I want to introduce you to one example of AR application. Its name is "Vahsi Hayvanlar" which is "Wild Animals". I showed my camera to the image of lion and it turned into a virtual one. Here is the video

How can we use it in Language Teaching?

If we want to develop our students' speaking skills, we can want them to translate the text that you saw in the left side of the book and make a presentation about it. While the students are preparing, they will come across some words that they do not know the meaning of. So, we help our students improve their vocabulary as well.

Thanks for wathcing. Take care of yourself :)
